Tecumseh. April 29, 2015

Tecumseh Trail and Sosman Trail.  About 5 miles roundtrip with 2200 feet of elevation gain.

I'm getting behind with our trip reports!  We hiked Madison, JQ Adams, and Adams yesterday (10.5 miles with 5150 feet of elevation gain), but I haven't yet posted our photos of our last Tecumseh hike.

The Tecumseh ascent was straightforward; the snow is mostly gone from the lower half of the trail, but it's still there (and fairly firm) on the upper portion.  I suspect all the snow will be completely gone after another two weeks of warm weather.

Starting out

Looking toward the View.  The snow cover started just below this point,
and the monorail was narrow but firm.
The snow at the base of the final mile, the "stairmaster section," was there, but beginning to recede.  The lower portion revealed rocks and boulders...

...while the upper section remained covered in about two feet of winter's leftovers.

We rested for a while on the summit, enjoying the warm-enough temperatures and the view.

On the way down, we saw nine people and three dogs on their way up (different groups of hikers).  We haven't seen that many people while hiking in quite a while!  It was nice to say hello to so many fellow wanderers.

As always, 'twas a good day in the woods.

I'll get our Madison-JQ Adams-Adams trip report posted on Thursday evening.
