Off 116 in Sugar Hill, NH, on the west side of Cannon Mountain.
This is the morning I received great news. No more daily hospital visits, and I can resume regular hiking! The coumadin is doing its job and my blood needs to be drawn a mere once a week. Woo-hoo!
To celebrate, the girls and I promptly went hiking. It was early afternoon before we could get our boots on a trail and the temps were in the upper 90s, so we decided a waterfall hike was in order.
Bridal Veil Falls looked like the perfect spot. Safe swimming holes, easy trail, constant access to Coppermine Brook after the first mile...what more could we ask for? I even allowed the girls to hike in their swimsuits.
Max cools himself off...
Sage checks out a cool root system...
Alex checks out Coppermine Shelter (which is right next to the falls..very convenient if you want to spend the night in a gorgeous location).
Bridal Veil Falls!
This was the perfect destination for the hot and humid afternoon. The girls waded and swam in the shallow pools for an hour and a half, and Max enjoyed napping in the shade.
If you're in Sugar Hill, NH and want to take a mellow five mile roundtrip hike to a gorgeous swimming hole, then I highly recommend visiting Bridal Veil Falls.
Also...there's more to this trail than the beautiful scenery. Bette Davis left her literal mark here...this excellent trip report by the The Feathered Hat provides the details.
Next: The girls and I take a spontaneous hike up the tallest mountain in New Hampshire. :)
